Lodge of Endeavour No. 504

Installation - 2007

The Lodge has concluded of its first year in existence. A decision of the Founders was that the First Master would be installed for just one year and thereafter the term of office would be for two consecutive years with the Installation held every second year being in odd numbered years. This maintains a cycle in sync with, but a year separated from, the Freemasons New Zealand biennial Communication.

The first biennial Installation took place on Saturday, November 3rd at the Idris Road Masonic Hall, commencing at 1 pm. Visiting brethren were admitted at 1:45 pm. As this was an afternoon event, the wearing of lounge suits was encouraged, however it was decreed by the District that evening dress was to be worn.

The Installation was followed immediately by a formal refectory (catered for by Zydeco) with excellent wine and superb canapés. That evening the Lodge of Endeavour held a very successful celebratory dinner at The Christchurch Club. Guests included visitors from both ends of New Zealand as well as from Australia, Barbados and England.

The uniqueness of this Lodge of Endeavour was evident in the efficiency of the installation ceremony, quality of the refectory, and the enjoyment of all who attended the evening dinner.

The Lodge has embraced the concept (known locally as the 3-Fs) of Fun, Fellowship and Freemasonry. This was evident throughout the day which honoured the solemnity of the occasion as well as the celebration of the first year of operation.
